Candidates for June Primary Set

One three-year seat open in Barnegat.

Barnegat voters head to the polls on June 4 for a primary election.

The deadline for candidates to submit petitions was Monday, April 1, and the unofficial slate of primary candidates is as follows:

Governor (vote for one)

  • Republican: Chris Christie (incumbent), Seth Grossman (Linwood, Restore Republican Principles)
  • Democrat: Barbara Buono (Metuchen, Cape May County Regular Democrat Committee, Inc.), Carl A. Bergmanson (Glen Ridge, Democrats for Change), William Araujo (Edison, Change Is Finally Here), Jeff Boss (Jersey City, Free College — Dogs Allowed — Legalize Cannibis), Troy Webster (East Orange, Democrats for Forward Progress)

One three-year seat is open in Barnegat Township. The Democrats currently have a majority advantage on the committee.

Incumbent Albert Bille, of Sturgeon St., is unopposed for the GOP nomination. Bille, a former post master in northern New Jersey, pointed to the committee's past few years of budget cutting as an area that he would like to continue.

Michael Howard, of Birdsall St., is unopposed for the Democrat nomination. Howard served four years in the Navy and is a retired Barnegat Township police officer. Howard has served as a Democratic District Committee Person.
