The Charitable Foundation Aims to better the community
The Ocean County Board of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation works with several charities in the Ocean County area.
As people recover from the holiday of gratitude and enter the spirit of giving, it is important to be reminded of local organizations that exist to benefit the community. The Ocean County Board of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation aims to provide grants of funds for qualified community organizations within Ocean County, and to perform services that will benefit the community of Ocean County. The Charitable Foundation hosts a variety of events for the public throughout the year in order to boost community involvement and to raise funds for philanthropic causes.
The Charitable Foundation also frequently teams up with other organizations—in late October, the Charitable Foundation worked with the Women’s Council of REALTORS® to host the Fourth Annual “Bras for a Cause.” This event, which was held at The Captain’s Inn in Forked River, was to benefit breast cancer research and The American Cancer Society. “Bras for a Cause” had 36 male models with decorated bras that were then auctioned off. With approximately 275 people in attendance, 36 bras for auction, and two raffles, “Bras for a Cause” raised over $11,000.
The Charitable Foundation also held a Character Breakfast on November 23rd at the Applebee’s of Lace Township, and had actors portraying popular children’s characters, such as Frozen’s Elsa and Anna. The event raised in excess of $800, and will be held again in February 2015.
The Charitable Foundation currently works with several charities that work within Ocean County, and will be doing a check presentation to four Ocean County food banks in mid-December.
