Clergyman With LBI Ties On Church Sex Abuse List: Report
Francis D. Bruno was accused of sexually assaulting a former alter boy at the Stella Maris Retreat on Long Beach Island.
The Diocese of Trenton named 30 former clergymen credibly accused of child sex abuse Wednesday. One of the priests was sued for sexually assaulting a former alter boy at the Stella Maris Retreat on Long Beach Island, according to the Asbury Park Press.
A 1994 lawsuit accused Francis D. Bruno of sexually assault between 1978 and 1981, The lawsuit claimed the abuse occurred at the retreat, St. James R.C. Church in Woodbridge and the Sacred Heart R.C. Church in South Amboy, the Asbury Park Press reported.
Bruno, 70, has been removed from ministry, according to the Trenton Diocese. He was ordained in 1974.
