LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ — Keep your eye out for "cold-stunned" turtles. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center has received reports of turtles that appear to be dead in the Barnegat Bay by Long Beach Island.

The turtles are cold-stunned, the MMSC says. When these green sea turtles are in water below 55 degrees, their metabolism slows considerably and they become immobile.

If you see the turtles, don't remove them from the water. Instead call the MMSC at 609-266-0538, and they will pick up the turtles.
