Collins Information Session To Be Held Tonight
All welcome to attend discussion about upgrades with contractors, officials at newly reopened elementary school

Barnegat Township School District officials will hold a public information session at the at 6:30 p.m. today, giving parents and others in the community the chance to talk directly to some of those involved in the months-long and remodeling of the elementary school.
A representative from the Board of Health and professionals from the architectural and environmental firms that orchestrated the cleanup and continue to oversee roofing and ventilation projects for the school will be on hand to answer questions from residents, the district said in a press release.
Up for discussion are the planned upgrades to the school's ventilation system, which will include humidity sensors and alarms to help keep mold issues at bay in the future. The panel will also elaborate on the plans to re-roof the entire center roof section of the elementary school in the summer of 2012, the district said. The Board of Education passed motions releasing bids for both projects Jan. 17.

All in the community are invited to attend the event, said school officials.
The mold problem at Collins just before the start of the 2011-12 school year, and the elementary school remained closed for four months, displacing students, teachers and administrators for the first term of the year. The school reopened late last month.
