LONG BEACH TWP., NJ — A dead humpback whale has washed up on the beach in Long Beach Township as of Thursday morning, according to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center.

Few details were immediately available. According to stranding center data, this is New Jersey's first whale stranding in 2024.

The 20-30 foot long humpback whale was reported to stranding center staff at 6:45 a.m. on April 11. It washed up in the surf at 51st Street, staff said.
