Don't Dig Holes In The Sand: Long Beach Township Beach Patrol
Residents and visitors asked to notify lifeguards if they see anyone doing this.

The warning can't be repeated enough. Don't dig holes or tunnels in the sand.
Long Beach Township Beach Patrol Chief Harrison recently saw an ambitious boy digging a large hole in the beach sand.
"Needless to say, we had to pull the plug on his project," according to the Long Beach Township Beach Patrol Facebook page. "Holes such as this create a life-threatening hazard, to those who are digging them but also to those who attempt to crawl through these unstable structures.

Ocean lifeguards are trained in special extrication techniques if a sand collapse occurs, the page states.
"Do us a favor - if you see this happening, be our eyes and ears," the post states. " Report it to the closest lifeguard stand. Help us prevent a tragedy before it occurs."
