Edwin William Rauth, Former Surf City Fire Chief, Dies At 82

A memorial service was held for the former Long Beach Island U.S. Postal Carrier, Postmaster, in Arizona.

Edwin William Rauth, 82, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015 in Sun City West, Arizona.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1932 in Plainfield, NJ to Edwin and Ethel Rauth. He was Surf City Past Fire Chief, Ship Bottom Postal Letter Carrier, Beach Haven Postal Superintendent, and a Tuckerton Post Master. He was awarded a Life Master Certificate in bridge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served from 1951 to 1953.

Edwin is survived by his wife of 37 years, Virginia E. Rauth; sons, Glenn (Jodi) Rauth, Mark (Dena) Rauth and William (Karen) Rauth; six grandchildren; and brothers, James (Susan) Rauth and David (Meg) Rauth. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering in memory of Edwin was held on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ 15826. A private family burial at Sunland Memorial Park in the Garden of Valor. A digital guest book is available at Sunlandmemorial.com until Aug.5, 2015.
