Enjoy Watercolor Art At Barnegat Library In July

"Watercolor Moments" is a free exhibit at the Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch that celebrates warmer weather by shore artists.

BARNEGAT, NJ — Celebrate the summer season with a new watercolor art exhibit coming to the Ocean County Library Barnegat Branch.

"Watercolor Moments" will highlight spring and summer throughout July, the library said in a release. Works by shore artists Barbara Kraemer, Judith Schimmel and Karen Wachter will be present.

Kraemer, who is active in the Pine Shores Art Association in Manahawkin, painted when she was young, but returned less than 10 years ago after a long hiatus because of a relative's gift of watercolor classes.

“I was hooked the moment I walked into the studio,” Kraemer said in a release. “My first two paintings sold and are held in private collections today.”

Schimmel, a former teacher, has pursued art since retiring. “I started taking classes with Jan Terry,” she said. “I’m presently working with Rose Sinatra. I paint in watercolor, mostly…landscapes and occasionally florals.”

Wachter is active in the Pine Shores Art Association, Manasquan River Group of Artists, Laurelton Art Society and Ocean County Artists Guild.

“I work primarily in watercolors, which is a challenging medium with a mind of its own,” Wachter said, “but the results can often be a welcome surprise.”
