Let's Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War

Join us for our five part reading and discussion series exploring the American Civil War led by Patricia H. Burke.

Group discussion events will be held at the Barnegat Branch on the following dates:
 
January 24– 7p.m. 
February 14 – 7p.m. 
March 6 – 7p.m. 
March 27– 7p.m. 
April 17– 7p.m.
 
The group discussions will be on the following works:

  • “March” by Geraldine Brooks (Penguin, 2006)
  • “Crossroads of Freedom: Antietam” by James McPherson (Oxford University Press, 2002)
  • “America’s War: Talking About the  Civil War and Emancipation on Their 150thAnniversaries,” a forthcoming anthology of historical fiction, speeches, diaries, memoirs, biography, and short stories, edited by national project scholar Edward L. Ayers and co-published by NEH and ALA.


All books will be available for pick up at the Barnegat Branch.
