BARNEGAT, NJ — When Christopher Gregor was told his 6-year-old son had died, he got in his car and left Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, telling hospital staff he needed privacy, according to an affidavit obtained by Patch.

In the hours after his son’s death, however, Gregor searched the internet for answers to questions such as “can your phone be tracked in airplane mode” and “can my car be tracked,” according to a probable cause affidavit filed last week by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Gregor was charged with murder March 9 in the death of Corey Micciolo. Blunt impact injuries of the chest and abdomen caused bruises and lacerations to the heart and liver of Corey, according to Dr. Thomas Andrew, a forensic pathologist who was chief medical examiner for the state of New Hampshire for 20 years. Andrew also noted that an acute traumatic injury to the heart happened four to 12 hours before the boy's death, and that there was evidence of chronic abuse.

"Dr. Andrews is a consummate professional and well regarded in the field of forensic pathology. He gave a very detailed report of a child he never examined. Instead relied on documents and reports provided to him by the prosecution without ever reviewing any other reports from any source but the Ocean County Prosecutor. They hired him, they paid him and he gave them a report to fit the narrative that they want to portray," Gregor's attorney, Mario Gallucci, told Patch. "Mr. Gregor did not abuse Corey and completely denies the allegations."

According to the affidavit, Gregor had been in his son’s life for two years, but in that time, there were numerous custodial issues. He told someone that when he found out he had a son he fought for full custody and won “over an ex heroin and meth addict,” the affidavit said.

Allegations of child abuse were made by both parents, Gregor and Breanna Micciolo, with 14 reports made to the New Jersey Division of Child Permanency and Protection about harm to Corey Micciolo, according to the probable cause affidavit filed last week.

Seven of these reports alleged by Gregor and five alleged abuse by Micciolo and her family.

Within the hour that Gregor left the hospital after Corey’s death, he texted his parents that he wouldn’t be back for a while and to take care of his dog, the affidavit said.

Two days later, he was traced to Arkansas and later Tennessee, according to the affidavit. That same day, he told a woman in a Tinder message that he was going to visit his brother in LA, according to the affidavit. However, he was caught by local police in Tennessee with his on-and-off girlfriend, who after he messaged her said she would fly down to Tennessee and drive back up to New Jersey with him.

Prior to the boy’s death, the affidavit said Gregor searched “will red marks turn into bruises.” After Corey's death, he searched “there was a murder determined from an autopsy how long to file charges” and “how long after an autopsy to file charges get filed.”

After Corey’s death, Gregor made statements to several people about how he thought Corey had died.

He told one woman that it was an accident but that the Micciolo family did it, the affidavit said. He told another that he believed it to be a “freak accident,” according to the affidavit, but also that he believed Corey had ingested meth while under Micciolo’s care. He also said he thought that Corey’s mom had drugged him, the affidavit said.

Gregor also had told his on-and-off girlfriend that he believed the Micciolo family had done something to Corey, but it was “likely an accident,” the affidavit said.

Micciolo had frequently accused Gregor of abusing the child, but he denied it. A woman in the affidavit who met Gregor on a dating app in April 2020 said she broke up with him after noticing “red flags.” One cited incident involved crabbing where the woman said that Gregor got angry and threw Corey off the boat. He later said he was “rough housing,” according to the affidavit.

After the death of the boy, Gregor was charged with child endangerment. Earlier this month he was charged with murder and is currently held in Ocean County Jail.
