Fire Extinguished At Open Field In Manahawkin
The brush fire wasn't part of a controlled burn, but it doesn't appear to be suspicious, police said.
MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Officials extinguished a brush fire Monday afternoon from an open field. The flames weren't part of a controlled burn, but the cause doesn't appear suspicious, Stafford police said.
Officials were dispatched at 12:28 p.m. to Stafford Park Boulevard and Cook Road for a report of a brush fire in the area. Smoke came from an open field between Campbell Avenue and Cook Road before the fire was quickly extinguished.
Involved agencies included Stafford police, the Stafford Township Fire Department, the Barnegat Township Fire Department, New Jersey State Forest Fire Service, Stafford Township Emergency Medical Services and the Stafford Township Fire Prevention Department.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service conducted several prescribed burns Monday around Ocean County. Controlled burns were planned for Eagleswood, Ocean Township, Lacey, Manchester, Brick and Jackson.
