Long Beach Island, N.J. – In light of the recent Tropical Storm Ophelia, along with heavy periods of rain, the East Coast is in the midst of major flooding issues. Often, it takes a flooding event to remind people of the importance of protecting themselves against flood damage. Experts call this “flood amnesia”, which often prevents property owners from proactively taking steps to protect themselves from future flooding events. In an effort to help residents with this issue, Long Beach Island officials are offering an upcoming webinar on Tuesday, Nov. 14 to help individuals take an easy, initial step to evaluate their level of protection. The seminar, hosted by Risk Reduction Plus, will focus on the basics of flood insurance, including options for cost savings. This is a great opportunity to learn about flood insurance from a team of professionals and ask questions to determine how to best protect your property in a cost-efficient way. We invite the media to participate in this seminar, or even speak with Tyler ahead of the seminar to preview a few tips or residents.

WHO? This is an educational partnership between Long Beach Island and Risk Reduction Plus, in association with Floodproofing.com, Smart Vent, and Smart Product Innovations. The presentation will be led by Tyler Ardron, VP/Managing Partner of Risk Reduction Plus.

The presenter will offer helpful steps for staying protected, as well as policy reviews and even one-on-one help, if requested.
