The Grinch Gets Put Behind Bars In Stafford

As punishment for stealing one of Stafford's firetrucks, the Grinch will be joining Santa Claus on his visits around town.

STAFFORD, NJ — It started with an unusual police report last week.

In a humorous video shared to Facebook, the Stafford Township Police Department called for the public's help in finding the culprit responsible for stealing a firetruck - a culprit who left green fluff on the floor of the station.

Just like last year, the Grinch was discovered trying to steal Christmas in Stafford, this time by wreaking havoc at the fire station. But thankfully, police said that he was captured in Ocean Acres on Nov. 29, just in time for the annual Santa Run to begin.

The truck was returned to the Stafford Volunteer Fire Company, police said.

"As a result, Santa visits are ON and will begin this Friday, and of course, as part of his community service hours, will be accompanied by the Grinch," police said.

The Grinch was also sentenced to serve free cookies at the upcoming "Cookie With A Cop" event at the Manahawkin Chick-Fil-A, set for Dec. 13 at 3:30 p.m.
