Hodgson Takes Over The Helm In Surf City
Longtime Borough Councilman sworn in as mayor recently.

Francis Hodgson is no stranger to sitting on the dais in the Surf City municipal building.
He was a Borough Councilman for 46 years. Now he has a new title - mayor.
Hodgson was sworn in during the recent reorganization meeting. He replaces longtime Mayor Leonard T. Connors, who decided not to run for re-election last year, after serving as mayor for 50 years, according to The Sandpaper.

“Len is a tough act to follow, but I know how the system works because I’ve been behind him for 46 years,” Hodgson said. “We’re going to carry on everything the way it’s been, and we’re going to be just as thrifty.”
Connors left the borough with no debt and a surplus of over a million dollars. And Hodgson wants to keep it that way.
