How to reopen your flood insurance claim

Free info in Bayville on Saturday; deadline for seeking more $$ is Sept. 15th

On Saturday (September 12th) at 11 AM, Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato and Stop FEMA Now founder George Kasimos will discuss Sandy issues and why and how owners of storm-damaged homes can reopen their flood insurance claims. The deadline for doing so is September 15th.

Last week a report found that more than half of all flood insurance claims reopened so far had originally been underpaid. The National Flood Insurance Program is administered by FEMA.

Stop FEMA Now is a grassroots protest movement started after the 2012 disaster that has grown into an influential nationwide advocacy group. Like many here in the Barnegat-Manahawkin area, Kasimos’ mainland Toms River house was flooded by the storm surge in Barnegat Bay.
