Jean Dean Of Ship Bottom Dies At 100

Services for former model and registered nurse will be private.

Jean Dean (nee Edinger), age 100, of Ship Bottom died peacefully at her home Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015.

Born in Riverside, NJ on Christmas Day in 1914; she was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Edinger. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband A.L. “Chubby” Dean; her sister, Libby Edinger; her longtime companion, Norman H Loring; and her son-in-law, J. Greg Root.

Jean was a T.W.A. hostess, a Vogue model in New York City, and a registered nurse. She lived in RiversideJ until her retirement and then moved to Long Beach Island, NJ. Jean was an avid reader and gardener, loved to cook, and entertain. She was a true fan of college basketball, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jean was an amazing woman, fun loving and independent. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a true friend. Jean was always very active, beach walking and dancing into her mid 90’s. She was a longtime member of the Beach Haven Yacht Club and the Republican party. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Dean Root and her grandson, Greg D Root. Jean leaves behind many great friends and wonderful neighbors. Funeral service will be private.
