Joseph Fred Manco Of Barnegat Dies At 80

Served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War

Joseph Fred Macco, 80, of Barnegat, formerly of Montville, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at home with his family surrounding him.

Born in Newark, he lived in Parsippany for 25 years before moving to Montville and then to Barnegat. He was a member of the International Union Operating Engineers Local 825 for 60 years and retired in 1993. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Quincy CA-71 during the Korean War.

Mr. Macco was predeceased by his brother, Richard Macco Sr. Surviving are his beloved wife of 48 years, Jean Macco (nee Rieck); and his children, Frederick C. Macco, Lisa Winch, her husband Gary Winch and a grandson, Ian Winch. Also surviving are a sister, Irene Levy; sister-in-law, Marilyn Macco; nephews, Richard, Raymond and William Macco; a niece, Diane Macco and their children.

Following cremation, a Memorial Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at St. Mary’s Church, Barnegat. Barnegat Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
