Just A Test: Harvey Cedars PD Sends 'Tsunami Warning'
The Harvey Cedars Police Department told residents to disregard the tsunami warning, which was sent for test purposes.
HARVEY CEDARS, N.J. — If you're in the Long Beach Island area, you should be alright. At the very least, there's little chance a tsunami will affect you on this fine Monday.
The Harvey Cedars Police Department sent a "tsunami warning" at 1:28 p.m. Monday on Nixle. However, the message was only for test purposes. Officials were testing transmission times on dissemination of potential tsunami info.
Harvey Cedars PD sent a Nixle alert and Facebook announcement shortly after to disregard the warning. They apologized for any concerns, stating the test came from the National Weather Service.
