SURF CITY, NJ — A fundraiser for Tim Kohlheim's family will go above and beyond — much like how the restaurateur often did himself. Pelican's SnoBalls (3 North Long Beach Blvd., Surf City) will donate 100 percent of sale to the Kohlheim family between 5-10 p.m. Sept. 6.

Kohlheim, 36, died in a car crash Aug. 15. He owned Shore Fire Grille in Manahawkin and Surf City. He had a wife and two daughters, according to his obituary.

Businesses, organizations and community members have stepped up to support Kohlheim's family and help his legacy continue. Pelican's SnoBalls was among the many restaurants who commemorated Kohlheim.

"One of the first to always lend a hand in a time of need and an all around great guy and amazing supporter and member of our community," the Surf City restaurant posted on Facebook. "Tim was one of the first to welcome us and help us as we were getting Pelican’s SnoBalls off the ground in Surf City. Words can’t express our sadness for Sam and their family at this time. God Bless you all! Until we meet again Brother."
