Long Beach Island Beach Replenishment Back On After Winter Hiatus
Three dredges are posted at various sections of the island.

The contractor for the Army Corps of Engineeers' beach replenishment project is back on the job, according to The Sandpaper.
Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co.’s three dredges assigned to the Long Beach Island project are all currently on site and at work. Earlier this week, the Liberty Island, the Dodge Island and Padre Island were all pumping at Beach Haven.
Beach Haven will be done by middle or late May, then the dredges will start in Holgate, according to Great Lakes.

The schedule for the last section of the project - the Loveladies and North Beach sections of Long Beach Township and several streets in Surf City is still up in the air, since eminent domain efforts for Loveladies and North Beach are not complete.
The Corps awarded a $128 million contract In December 2014 to Great Lakes to finish the LBI Storm Damage Reduction Project, a joint effort of the Corps and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The work began almost a year ago in Ship Bottom, then moved on to Long Beach Township.

Replenishment efforts began in early May 2015 in Ship Bottom, then moved to Long Beach Township. Earlier this year, Great Lakes moved its dredges to a project in Georgia, which upset mayors in several island towns.
