Long Beach Township Police Warn Of Atlantic City Electric Phone Scam

Don't fall for this one.

Long Beach Township police recently received a complaint about a phony attempt to collect credit card information about a bogus overdue electric bill.

The caller states that they are with Atlantic City Electric, that the person's account is overdue, and that service will be shut off, unless the customer provides credit card information.

The number on the caller ID is (844) 271-8421 and the automated voice options sound authentic, police said.

"This is a FRAUD," according to the police department Facebook page. "Do not give out any personal and or financial information over the phone. if you have an account, they should be able to look up your info in their system.
