Mail Carriers Collecting For Barnegat Food Pantry 5/11
It's all part of the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

BARNEGAT, N.J. — Letter carriers across the county will be collecting food for families in need Saturday, May 11. Carriers ask that Barnegat residents collect and bag nonperishable food items to put near their mailboxes for Saturday pickup.
All food in Barnegat will be donated to the Barnegat Food Pantry, the Township announced. To donate, residents only need to leave a nonperishable food donation by your mailbox before mail delivery.
The top requested nonperishable items are cereal, pasta, pasta sauce or spaghetti sauce, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meals (such as soups, chili and pasta), 100% juice, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, canned protein (tuna, chicken and turkey), beans (canned or dry). You can also donate healthy, low-sodium, low-sugar items such as oatmeal and other whole grains, and canola or olive oil.

Please note that your mail delivery might be a little later than usual Saturday, since mail carriers will be collecting food along with their daily responsibilities.
The USPS conducts this food drive each spring because food pantries typically receive fewer donations in the spring and summer. During the summer, many school meal programs are not available to children in need.
