"Tie One On at the Shore," will host their sixth annual benefit on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Calloway's Restaurant in Eagleswood.
The benefit will go to Mary's Place By the Sea, an Ocean Grove-based holistic center for women with cancer, according to Kim Murphy, of Barnegat. Murphy said her sister, Christine Massaro, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and fought courageously until she succumbed to the disease in 2011.
"Every day of five years she was fighting this disease, but for the weekend at Mary's Place, she was being pampered," Murphy said in a press release about the event. "She felt like a celebrity. What better way to honor her, than to give back to the organization that gave so much to her, and made her so happy."

Mary's Place by the Sea is run by service volunteers including nutritionists, oncological masseuses, yoga instructors and more.
Michele Gannon, founder of Mary's Place by the Sea, noted: "Although we only knew Christine a short time, her visit with us at Mary's Place left an indelible impression on us. We realized that we can make a difference with each and every guest we care for during their long journey with cancer."

The event will feature door prizes, basket auctions, vendors, food and drinks, face painting, tattoos, sand art, discounted amusement park tickets, and more. Music is being provided by Mushmouth, The Rock Lobsters, The Impulsives, and Sara O'Brien.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, children 12 and younger are free.
About Mary's Place by the Sea
Conceived of by Gannon in January 2009, Mary’s Place By The Sea quickly became a center not only of help and healing, but also a growing resource for stakeholders in the life of a woman undergoing treatment for cancer.
Gannon first envisioned Mary’s Place while recovering from a non-life-threatening illness in January 2009. Needing to carry on caring for her family, including three young children, she wondered how women who were in far more dire circumstances would fare.
During that same winter, Gannon shared her vision with a fellow mother, Maria McKeon, at her children’s school. The two women developed a kindred-spirited collaboration which fuels the growth and accomplishments of Mary’s Place By The Sea: in the course of just three years, more than 800 women have benefited from the care there.
Mary’s Place By The Sea has evolved to its current site in a three-story Victorian home faces Fletcher Lake and lies one block west of the Atlantic Ocean.
