Master Plan Subcommittee Reviews Ground Rules for Historic District

The Master Plan Subcommitte of the Planning Board will meet next Wednesday, April 18, to continue working out the details of the master plan, planning officials said.

In particular, the committee hopes to finalize the rules and guidelines for building in the historic district, covering such facets of style as facades, windows, doors, additions and building materials, said Jerry Harper, who is one of the subcommittee's five members.

"This is really our guidelines for when a project comes before the planning or the zoning board," Harper said. "Although we have kind of ground rules we’re working with right now, they are pretty much negotiated for the moment. That's part of the reason we’re going through them, so we can say, 'This is not subject to interpretation.' We’re trying to define it."

While the , the planning board's special subcommittee, which has been working on the plan since 2007, continues to iron out the details, including open space, economic development, stream corridor protection, waste water management and other elements of the township's functions.

The next subcommittee meeting, which is open to the public, will take place in the courtroom next Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m.
