Mobile Mammography Van To Visit LBI On Friday

The screenings are for women 40 or older with no current or past breast issues.

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, NJ — A mobile mammography van will stop at the LBI Health Department (St. Francis Community Center) from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome for the Dr. Jan Astin Mobile Digital Mammography Van. The screenings are for women 40 and older with no current or past breast issues.

The van travels throughout southeastern New Jersey to make breast cancer screening easier and more convenient. The custom-built, 38-foot van is completely self-contained. In addition to offering the latest 3D digital mammography equipment, the van provides a comfortable waiting area and a private dressing room.

The mobile van’s radiology services are accredited by the American College of Radiology and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Mammography images are read by board-certified fellowship trained radiologists at Atlantic Medical Imaging.

A prescription may not be needed. Call the scheduling department at 609-677-XRAY (9729) to make an appointment and to confirm hours of operation for specific locations.

This service accepts all insurances. But AMI's Mammography Assistance Program will cover the cost of the screening for anyone uninsured.
