N.J. Blizzard: Last High Tide Arrives In Barnegat

Barnegat police say power is still out in some sections of town and will be until 9 p.m.

Officials in Barnegat are waiting to see how the third high tide on Sunday will affect the waterfront sections of the township, police said.

The morning tide came in around 9 a.m. Residents along the bayfront had already been ordered to evacuate once the storm began.

The big problem this morning is power - or the lack of it. Barnegat police say power will be out in some sections until 9 p.m. tonight.

The township opened up a warming center on Saturday at the Brackman School at 600 Barnegat Boulevard , when it became apparent power would be out for awhile.

Barnegat schools will be closed on Monday.

When the storm began, police reported numerous wires down on roadways.

Expect temperatures in the mid-30s today and a freeze-up tonight when the temperatures drop into the 20s. Monday will be mostly sunny with a high near 37. Things will warm up on Wednesday, with a high near 45 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
