No Swimming On Harvey Cedars, Long Beach Township Beaches Due To Dangerous Surf Conditions

Bay beach still closed due to lifeguard shortage.

If you were thinking about swimming in the ocean off Harvey Cedars or Long Beach Township today, find something else to do.

No one will be allowed to swim due to rough surf conditions. Visitors can only go in knee deep. Boogie boards and other flotation devices are prohibited.

"First red flag of the summer!" a post states on the Harvey Cedars Beach Patrol Facebook page states. "Please obey the lifeguards."

If you think the bay beach is an option, it's not. The bay beach has been closed for the last several days due to a shortage of lifeguards.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies today, but also issued a Beach Hazard Alert due to rough surf and rip currents.
