Ocean County Sheriff Reaches Out To Laid-Off Barnegat Dispatchers
Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy wants to talk to those who lost their jobs in February.

Ocean County Sheriff Michael G. Mastronardy has invited former Barnegat police dispatchers to discuss possible openings in his department, according to app.com.
The move came almost a month after the Barnegat Township Committee voted to eliminate in-house police dispatcher jobs. Barnegat officials said the township could no longer afford the price tag for their benefits and salaries.
"We called them," Mastronardy said. " We're about to send them written documentation inviting them to come in and discuss (working) with us," he said last week. "Obviously, nobody likes to see anybody lose the position."
