Peter Arnone of Barnegat Light, entered eternal peaceful rest on July 16, 2015 after a long, hard struggle with cancer.

Peter was born in Teaneck and lived in Demarest, prior to moving to Barnegat Light. He was a self-employed electrical contractor and served as a volunteer fire fighter for the Barnegat Light Fire Company as well as a volunteer first responder for the Barnegat Light EMS Squad. One and half years ago our small island community held a beautiful “Appreciation” benefit for Pete. He was so moved by the outpouring of love and support. I recall him saying “I must have done something right!”

Peter has left us with a wonderful example of how to live a life. Where there was a need, he would fill it; whether it was as small as bringing a smile to someone’s face or his countless hours serving the Island Fire and EMS departments. He brought the island departments together, inspiring them to communicate and provided the tools to be successful. He gave his all, always, to his family, his friends and his community. He will be dearly missed. We ask you to keep a light on in your heart for Pete as he surely did for all of us.

Peter is predeceased by his dad Paul with whom he had a great loving relationship. Peter is survived by his best friend and wife Marybeth and their four sons, Peter Jr., Daniel, Griffen, Paul and wife Sara. All brought him great pride and joy; his In-laws laws, Lois and Anthony Lalley and Magellan, his faithful chocolate lab, who gave him much love and laughs.

Peter is also survived by his loving mother Lillian, sisters Mary, Theresa and Peggy and his brothers Paul, Michael, Joseph, Richard and their families.

A Memorial Gathering in Peter’s honor will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 until his Memorial Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Brant Beach, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you continue to honor his work with direct donations to “18 Mile Emergency Services Association” PO Box 509, Ship Bottom, NJ 08008. Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home & Cremation Service is entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be sent at www.MaxwellTobieFH.com
