HARVEY CEDARS, NJ — Three utility poles fell down on Long Beach Island's Cedars Avenue, Harvey Cedars police announced early Friday morning. The poles most likely fell because of heavy wind, police said.

Crews are replacing the poles and rebuilding the energy infrastructure. Some might not get power back until Friday night, according to an Atlantic City Electric spokesperson.

"We're expecting to get these folks back online by late this afternoon," ACE Spokesperson Frank Tedesco said Friday. "However, due to the complex nature of the work and the amount of work taking place, the full restoration may go into sometime tonight."

About 130 in southern Ocean County lost power since Thursday night, according to Atlantic City Electric spokesperson Frank Tedesco. ACE did not have precise numbers on how many lost power on Long Beach Island.

Atlantic City Electric removed the poles from the road. ACE does not anticipate needing to close Cedars Avenue for the work, Tedesco said. But Harvey Cedars police said to follow their directions in the area.
