Police: Woman Avoided Arrest by Hiding Under Clothing in Closet

A 30-year-old Barnegat woman wanted on multiple warrants ultimately charged with resisting arrest

Police arrested a township woman on multiple outstanding warrants this week after finding her hiding from officers in a closet.

Joann Landi, 30, was wanted on $1,250 in outstanding warrants out of Barnegat, Stafford and Little Egg Harbor townships, said Lt. Keith Germain of the Barnegat Township Police Department in a press release.

On Tuesday, police found Landi in her home on Deck Street off Georgetown Boulevard, where she was attempting to hide from arresting officers under a pile of clothing in a bedroom closet, said Germain. After she was caught, Landi struggled with police and was charged with resisting arrest, Germain said.
