Primary elections for municipal government seats will be held all over the state today. Here's the rundown on Barnegat's primaries.
What's at stake. Two seats on the committee are open this year – those of Leonard Morano, the Committee’s lone Democrat, and Republican Martin Lisella. With the only Democratic-held seat open, the Nov. 8 general election has the potential to result in a fully Republican Committee.
While the Democratic primary is uncontested, Republican voters will be choosing from among three candidates: The party-backed pair of incumbent Martin Lisella and former Committee member Maxine Blumenthal, and challenger Philip J. Checchia.
