Rallies in Ocean County on Saturday

Flood victims and friends are invited to unique 'FlashMob' events 2-5:30pm

People of all political persuasions (and those with none) will get together Saturday in a very unique way to support a candidate pledged to fight on behalf of flood victims.

Aimee Belgard, candidate for Congress in NJ’s Third District (Ocean/Burlington), will have four “Meet Your Next Member of Congress” events on Nov. 1. Everyone is invited.

  • Crystal Diner, Rt. 37 at 166, Toms River at 2 pm
  • Doug Quinn’s house, 15 Pine Crest Dr., Toms River, at 3 pm (His flood-damaged house is still waiting for RREM money to raise and rebuild).
  • Lauren & Allen Solomon’s house, 144 Valencia Dr., Brick at 4 pm (They raised their home, were approved then denied by RREM, and finally had to get a 30-year SBA loan).
  • Kris Kopsaftis’ and Bob Farrell’s NJ Surf Show, 701 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette at 5 pm (Their business is still damaged, and their 2 homes and family homes are still damaged).

All have opened up their homes and shops to support Aimee Belgard for Congress. “She will fight to help us rebuild our homes, fix aid issues and keep flood insurance affordable,” asserted the founder of Stop FEMA Now, George Kasimos of Toms River.

He intends to use technology to make Saturday afternoon’s get-togethers a “serial FlashMob for Shore recovery.” He urged members to use their Twitter accounts to re-tweet @StopFemaNow and make the events’ announcement “go viral.”

“Bring a friend or three, bring a sign and bring your smile,” Kasimos said, “because there will be news media cameras and reporters at this unique series of campaign events. Tell your Sandy story and send a message to all elected officials from Trenton to Washington.
