Robert Henry Potter Of Ship Bottom Dies At 99

A memorial service for longtime Long Beach Island resident will be held on Thursday.

Robert Henry Potter, 99, of Ship Bottom died on June 9, 2016.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rita (Morrissey) Potter. Robert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carol Potter and his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Keith Gunsten. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Up to the time of his death, Robert was one of the oldest full-time residents of Long Beach Island. He was quoted in the Echoes of LBI magazine saying with a laugh, "When you get to be this age you've seen a lot. It's hard not to."

Robert will be greatly missed by his family and his friends. Friends and relatives are invited to join with his family for his memorial service, which will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 13th Street and Long Beach Blvd, Surf City, NJ 08008. Father Andrew has the honor of presiding over the memorial mass. Burial will be private.
