Safe In Surf City: Police, Public Works Rescue Trapped Ducklings

14 ducklings were freed from storm drain, police say.

Fourteen ducklings were reunited with their frantic mother today thanks to the kindness a Surf City police officer, members of the Public Works Department and an attentive neighbor, according to the police department's Facebook page.

The ducklings were trapped in a storm drain, but a neighbor noticed and called police.

"This afternoon, we received a call for ducklings trapped in a storm drain at N. 4th & Barnegat," the page states. "Officer Rice responded, and with the help of our DPW, quickly rescued 14 ducklings and reunited them with their very frantic mother. A big thank you to the concerned citizen who called, and kudos to Officer Rice!"
