Science Saturdays Tackle Issues Affecting LBI, Barnegat Bay

The First Science Saturday, "The Coast Resilience Puzzle," takes place Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. at the LBI Foundation of the Arts and Sciences.

Does anyone ever bother to stop and ask the turtles how they're doing? Science Saturdays at the LBI Foundation for the Arts and Sciences will tackle this issue and other important scientific and environmental matters affecting the Barnegat Bay and Jersey Shore at their weekly Science Saturday presentations.

The LBIF describes Science Saturdays as "interactive and informative hands-on presentations in an informal atmosphere." The organization has announced the following installments:

  • Jan. 19: The Coast Resilience Puzzle
  • Jan. 26: Using Shellfish in Living Shorelines
  • Feb. 2: How Are the Turtles Doing?
  • Feb. 9: Commercial Fishing & Cooking Fresh Seafood
  • Feb. 16: Wildlife on the North End of LBI
  • Feb. 23: Oyster Culture & Cuisine

Each event will occur from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. They are free for LBIF members and $5 for the public.
