UPDATE: Missing Barnegat Juveniles Found Safe

Caroline Hartman, 12, and Anthony Martinez, 13, left their homes late last night.

The Barnegat Police Department, Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department, and New Jersey State Police have located two Barnegat youths reported missing just after midnight.

“Runaway Barnegat youths who were the subject of the overnight search have been located,” said Al Della Fave, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. ” Both youths were found unharmed at approximately 9:45 this am on a dirt path off Bilge Road in Barnegat.”

Missing were 12-year-old Caroline (Carly) Hartman and 12-year-old Anthony Martinez, 13. Efforts to reach both by cell phone last night were unsuccessful, Barnegat police said.

Hartman is white, five feet, one inches tall and weighs 115 pounds. She has hazel eyes and brown hair with blond overtones. She left her home on foot between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. and is believed to be with her boyfriend, Anthony Martinez, 13.

Martinez is Hispanic. He is five feet, four inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. He has light brown eyes and light brown short hair.He is believed to have been wearing a black jacket and jeans when he left his house on foot.

A State Police Helicopter flew over Barnegat and Manahawkin Thursday morning, searching for two missing juveniles, Barnegat police said.

A poster on the Barnegat police Facebook page by Stacey Stewart said her 12-year-old daughter is missing.

Stacey Steward’s message read: “Please help me. My 12 year old daughter ran away tonight while I was at work. Her name is Carly. She is 5 feet-1 inch, approx. 115 lbs. She has hazel eyes and brown hair past her shoulders. She has been missing since around 10 pm on November 19th 2014.”

“The police are involved if anyone sees her please call me at 848_223_2675 at any time or the police 911. She may be traveling with a hispanic boy, PLEASE HELP ME FIND HER!!”
