Certain beaches in the island's towns will be open

You can still swim at certain beaches in some island towns for a little while longer, according to a report in The Sandpaper.

Borough officials support keeping some beaches open the entire month because the water is still warm and the weather is nice.

“If people do want to swim, we ask that they go to a guarded beach,” Stokes said.

Harvey Cedars - The Middlesex Avenue beach will be guarded every day in September, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 80th Street beach will also be guarded on weekends, Beach Patrol Capt. Randy Townsend said.

“We’ll also have mobile units available,” he said.

Barnegat Light - The 22nd Street beach will be guarded through Sunday, Sept. 18, said Lifeguard Capt. Don Adams. It's possible the 25th street beach may be added as a guarded beach for the next weekend.
