Sexuality and Hygiene for Adolescents with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities: What Caregivers Need to Know

Hosted at the Little Egg Harbor Branch of the Ocean County Library on Thursday, April 28th at 6:30 pm.

Adolescence can be a difficult time for children and families, and can be especially difficult for children with developmental disabilities and their families.

This presentation will provide an overview of the specific challenges present during puberty and adolescence, specifically issues of sexuality and Hygiene. Strategies for increasing independence in grooming, hygiene, health, and dressing will be reviewed.

In addition, issues and strategies surrounding sexuality, modesty, privacy, boundaries and personal safety will be discussed.
