Sheriff's Officers Want Kelly Out As Liaison To Law And Public Safety

Rank-and-file unanimously approve vote of 'no confidence' after veteran freeholder creates highly-paid job for extended family member.

If Freeholder John P. Kelly doesn’t step down as director of law and public safety immediately, the Police Benevolent Association Local 379 wants him to resign, accord to an article on app.com.

Union members unanimously approved a vote of ”no confidence” in Kelly after he created a $115,000 position in the county Corrections Department for a member of his extended family. The Board of Freeholders unanimously approved the appointment in February, but some board members were unaware of the relationship between Kelly and Michael J. Fromosky.

Union President James Brown said if Kelly refuses to step down as liaison, the union will ask him to resign as freeholder. If Kelly refuses to resign, union members will begin a countywide petition and campaign to recall him from office, he said.
