Ship Bottom Pedestrian Badly Injured After He Was Struck By Vehicle On Long Beach Island

A Ship Bottom man was critically injured Sunday morning when he was trying to cross the street diagonally at Central Avenue and 10th Avenue, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.

Michael Tobia, 63, was taken to Atlantic City Medical Center after the 9:06 a.m. accident, spokesman Al Della Fave said.

"He was not crossing in a designated crossing zone when he was struck by the Quest," he said.

The driver, Richard Lisieski, 86, Brighton Beach, was taken to Southern Ocean County Medical Center to be checked out but was not injured, Della Fave.

Lisieski consented to a blood draw. The results are not yet available, Della Fave.

The accident is under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, he said.
