Shredding Program Makes Stops In Stafford Area: Here's When
The free program allows people to get rid of papers and protect themselves from identity theft.
The Ocean County Residential Document Shredding Program kicks off this spring. The program will makes several stops throughout Ocean County from April through September.
Here's where and when the program takes place in the Barnegat and Manahawkin area:
- Long Beach Township, St. Francis Community Center Lot, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., April 25
- Little Egg Harbor Township, Community Center Lot, 319 W. CalaBreeze Way, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 1
- Stafford Township, Southern Recycling Center Lot, 379 Haywood Road, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 20
- Tuckerton Recycling Center Lot, 445 South Green St., 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., July 27
Document shredding provides county residents with an opportunity to rid their home of papers with sensitive information, providing a safeguard against identity theft.

The program is only free to residents, and commercial documents will not be accepted. Each shredding event will run for the complete schedule or until the truck is full. The truck can hold 10,000 pounds of paper.
The shred unit features an automatic feeding and dumping system that eliminates human contact with documents. Residents can bring up to six boxes or bags of documents per event.

Paperclips and staples need not be removed. Unacceptable items include x-rays, CDs, floppy disks, microfilm, and file folders.
Ocean County will also offer drop boxes at both County recycling centers — near Building 105 at the Southern Recycling Center in Stafford Township or Building 68 at the Northern Recycling Center in Lakewood — for anyone who would prefer to shred documents at home.
