Slots Are Still Available For Stafford Youth Police Academy

Deadline to apply is June 1.

The Stafford Township Police Department is looking for a few good cadets for the Summer Youth Police Academy
to be held in mid-July.

The program is open to students entering the sixth and seventh grades as of September 2016. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from July 18 through July 22.

"The Youth Police Academy is not a "boot camp" for troubled youth, but a camp designed to operate like an actual police academy for those interested in law enforcement," according to the Stafford Township Police Department Facebook page.

Cadets will learn police procedures, the history of the Stafford police department, take tours of police headquarters, a field trip to the New Jersey State Police Museum and Learning Center


:Cadets should be prepared for an experience spanning a wide variety of Law Enforcement techniques and training," the post states. "We place strong emphasis on self-respect, respect of others, teamwork and commitment to one’s goals. This will be accomplished through structured events which will be offered in a fun, informative, interactive, educational and hands-on manner. The curriculum will consist of educational activities as well as physical training activities."

1. Completed application (PDF). Applications must be completed in black ink and signed.
2. One letter of recommendation from a teacher or principal.
3. Completed medical certification form.
4. Signed medical release form and civil liability form.
5. Signed media release form.
6. Completed essay question.
7. Must be an incoming 6th or 7th grade student as of September 2015.
8. Must be a Stafford Township resident.

Applications must be submitted no later than June 1, 2016 to Stafford Township Police Headquarters (Attn: Youth Police Academy).

If you are accepted to the Youth Police Academy you will receive a letter in the mail no later than June 15, 2016. At that time you must mail a check in the amount of $75 made payable to Stafford Township PBA to the following address:
