Think spring! More players 60 & up wanted for 2016 season
The county’s largest senior softball league inducted three longtime players and managers into its Hall of Fame.
The selection of Charlie Dilkes, Rudy Lucrezi and Sam Carnevale was announced this week at the Berkeley Senior Softball League’s annual picnic, attended by more than 100. (Some players are from the Manahawkin area.) Each honoree received a plaque honoring his achievements.
Trophies were presented to the winning teams in the spring-summer season: Holiday Service Center, repeating as champions of both the A Division regular season and playoffs; Cash 4 College, winners of the B Division regular season; Ryan Funeral Homes, B Division playoff champs; the Red Rockers, repeating as regular-season winners in the Tony Mantarro Division; and the Slammers, repeating as Mantarro Division playoff champs.
