Solutions Coming For Rising Energy Bills In South Jersey: Van Drew
After meeting with Atlantic City Electric, Rep. Jeff Van Drew said that the company will be taking new steps towards addressing bills.
SOUTH JERSEY — After meeting with leaders from Atlantic City Electric (ACE) and Exelon earlier this month, Rep. Jeff Van Drew shared new updates on addressing the rise in electric bills in South Jersey.
It was this past summer when Van Drew began investigating reports of higher than normal electric bills in the South Jersey region. Some said their bills had even quadrupled - with no explanation.
"As a result of our meeting, we were able to secure some important commitments from ACE," Van Drew said.

ACE sent Van Drew a letter outlining some immediate next steps they said they would implement. These steps include an additional audit of their billing system, taking a closer look at claims from people who believe they were overcharged and to work on resolving those cases and exploring new ways to create a more efficient, streamlined process to ensure customer complaints are addressed quickly.
"We take feedback from our customers seriously and want to ensure we are providing customers peace of mind," J. Tyler Anthony wrote in the letter. Anthony is president and CEO of Pepco Holdings, a subsidiary of Exelon and parent company of Atlantic City Electric.

"This is a good start but there is still a lot of work to do," Van Drew said. "We are going to keep fighting against any proposed rate hikes, and we will make sure they follow through on these commitments they have made. In the meantime, we will continue working with the incoming administration on this issue because our residents deserve real action and real results."
