Southern Regional Open To Conducting In-Person Graduation

Southern Regional will hold its virtual graduation but may host an in-person ceremony following further guidance.

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Despite Governor Phil Murphy's go-ahead for in-person graduations, Southern Regional will continue its virtual ceremony. But school officials are open to also conducting an in-person ceremony.

Governor Phil Murphy announced Monday he would allow outdoor graduation ceremonies starting July 6. They must "comply with social distancing — ensuring the health and safety of all in attendance," Murphy said.

With Murphy's decision to allow the events, the Department of Education and the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education will release further guidance Wednesday.
