Spodofora Wins Another Term As Mayor Of Stafford

Mayor pulls his Republican slate in with him.

Stafford Mayor John R. Spodofora has won another four-year term as mayor, after a contentious primary and a difficult campaign.

Spodofora received 2,559 votes, or 61.63 percent. Joanne B. Sitek, his Democratic challenger, received 1,560 or 37.57 percent.

Six Republicans and six Democrats filed for the six available seats on the Township Council. The Republicans took all of them. David J. Taylor was the top votegetter, with 2,557 votes, or 10.87 percent. Sharon McKenna was second with 10.83 percent. Alan R. Smith was third with 2,491, or 10.59 percent. Paul B. Marchal received 2,452 votes, or 10.43 percent.

Stephen Fessler received 2,477 votes or 10.53 percent. Steven M. Jeffries received 2,426 votes, or 10.32 percent, according to the Ocean County Clerk’s Office.
