Stafford Council Introduces $51 Million Budget

There will be a tax increase in the new budget that was announced at a recent meeting.

STAFFORD, NJ — The Stafford Township Council introduced the 2022 municipal budget at the April 12 meeting.

The budget totals $51,210,249, township CFO Doug Gannon said at the meeting. Mayor Greg Myhre said that in creating the budget, the township government wanted to keep services for residents while offering the lowest possible tax rate.

The tax rate is up from last year's budget, with a 91.9 cents tax rate. The average home in Stafford is valued at $288,400. So the average homeowner will see an extra $51.91 in their bill.

Stafford has accomplished many projects and looks forward to completing more. These projects focus on the health of the township and work towards long-term sustainability of Stafford, for example, fixing flooding or stormwater issues.

Other important projects are the sewer replacement in Beach Haven West and improving Route 72.

Von der Hayden thanked all of the people working in all areas of the local government for their help in improving Stafford.

"It doesn't happen without these folks," he said.
