Stafford Couple Misused $700K In Sandy Repair Funds: OCPO
The couple did little to no work after entering contracts with 17 homeowners and two subcontractors, officials said.

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. — A Stafford couple was charged with misusing almost $700,000 in funds meant for Superstorm Sandy repairs, the Ocean County Prosecutors Office announced Tuesday. Th husband and wife's company did little to no work after entering contracts with at least 17 homeowners and two subcontractors, the OCPO said.
Adam Nevius and Kimberly Atkinson owned and operated Coastal Restorations & Construction of N.J., LLC from 2014 to 2017, the OCPO said. They used the funds for purposes other than repairs, according to the OCPO.
Atkinson was also charged theft by deception for misrepresentation on the mortgage application she used to purchase their Manahawkin home, officials said.

The investigation required many departments, including the OCPO's Economic Crimes Unit, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ocean County Department of Consumer Affairs, Stafford Township Police Department, Ship Bottom Police Department, Long Beach Police Department and Surf City Heights Police Department.
